Though the student council proposed many new ideas at the beginning of the school year, such as a student lounge, tlie only real issue it settled was that of the dress code. The new dress code stated that anything could be worn, in- cluding slacks for girls, if worn with modesty and shoes. Though many of the teachers advo- cated that blue jeans resulted in sloppy thinking, the students quickly adjusted to tlie new ruling, and there were very few violations. No one really seemed to know the reasons behind the sit-in pictured, but in the end it re- sulted in tlie administration protesting tlie stu- dent's rights to protest and the students protesting tlie administration protest. The only way tlie ad- ministration could break up the sit-in was to threaten to take away that night's football game. Whatever it proved or failed to prove, it proved a change-of-pace ! 23
