Dennis Murphy is retiring presi- dent of the group. Awards were won in poetry, sports writing, make- up and feature writing. At the Minnesota High School Press Association Convention at Minneapolis on April 24. Dennis Murphy won a first on his sports column, Michael Southworth won second in art. and the Kometeer won second place in the mimeograph division. Some of the standouts in the Komet Squad: Jerry Harris and his 19-3 overall record: Ronald Fuchs and his 15-5 record; and Donald Spilman and Lennis Spicer went un- defeated in dual meets. In tournament meets Captain Harris was runner-up in the Uni- versity of Minnesota Invitational, first at St. Charles Invitational, first in district and four in regional. Fuchs was second at Univer- sity of Minnesota Invitational, second at St. Charles, first in District and third in the regional. Bill Brekke also won at St. Charles. The 1960 team has a lot of juniors back and will lose only four seniors: Jerry Harris, Lennis Spicer. Lester Tucker, and Bob Sand- eno. Sponsored by Mobil Products Rex's Barber Shop 27
