Concerts of this type were exchanged with Kasson and Dodge Center later in the year. At the formal dedication of our new athletic field, the band performed various maneuvers honor of Kasson, our visitors, the band formed the letter HKU and played the Kasson school song the WMU formation, the band played the Mantorville school song The basketball season was made more festive by the presence of the Pep Band, a group taken from the regular band A Second Girls' Glee Club and Junior Band were organized to train the beginners in voice and strumental technique From the band and the glee club two ensembles were formed the brass quintet including trumpets, David Calhoun and Iva Currier, French horn, Sam my Ellson, baritone, Daryl Lembke and trombone, Nadine Moulton, the girls' sextet including claire Benson, Flossie Cornwell, Dorothy Andrlst, Lois Castner, Eleanor Co nwell, and Betty Benson The quintet selection, 'In Memoriamu, by Harold John son, was their contest selection mhe sextet's contest number was UI Dream of Jeanlen by Stephen Foster The musical organizations presented a program at the Spring Concert and later at the Pre Contest Concert All the ensemble and solos, as well as the band and glee club, p esented their contest selections The bend numbe s we e C Light of Lifen by Bortniansny, ard HThe Traxeler' by For rest Buchtel the glee club umber was Ncarol of the Russiar Childr nn, a Russian folk song by Bry ceson Treherne These same selections were presented at the Dodge center ld ic Westiwal t Do ge enter and at the District Corte t held at Uatcnna At the District Conte iic fo L x ng atirgs were given Band, WBU ce Cl , H N, Gl11S' Sextet, ' W, . . .
