A Touch of Class Manti High School has class. Throughout the entire year, students from Manti High ex- hibit a dimension of quality and commitment that goes unrivaled by other schools. There is a feeling of pride and prestige that dwells in the heart of every student and teacher, a feeling that has the deepest roots, a feeling of belong- ing to something of a higher status, a feeling of class. Freshmen usually get their first touch of class from the bottom of a garbage can. where one has time to ponder about such things as life, liberty, and the pursuit of dignity. Freshmen realize that they arc here to stay and must conform to the strange but classy rules of high school life. Sophomores, now a year older and wiser, quickly learn that class is an essential part of success, whether it be in the form of an auto- biography or a driver’s license. But these peo- ple arc only beginning to sec the true meaning of “class”. Juniors have class all their own. These test- taking. research-paper writing, and prom pre- paring citizens of Manti High School know the rules for survival. And if you ask any of them, they will tell you that class is mandatory for success. They also realize that they arc now uppcr-CLASS-mcn and nothing can take that honor away from them. Juniors now have new privileges but new responsibilities as well. For some, this means being a student body officer. powder puff player, or a girl or boy stater But it also means tedious hours of dedication and homework, and weeks of preparation for the Junior Prom. Seniors, for twelve years you have been pre- paring for this final chapter of your school ex- perience. No one knows about class more than you do. You have given your all, your best, to try to improve. Now it is time for reward. Ster- ling Scholarships, good jobs, and a feeling of pride and satisfaction arc yours, knowing that you have done more than merely survive; you have given Manti High School something spe- cial - a touch of class. 2 A Touch of Class
