Seven girls represented the school in the Region Seven Tournament. Suzanne McBride 3rd Place, No. 1 in Singles. Diane Haymond 2nd Place, No. 2 in Singles. Fern Mortensen 1st Place, No. 3 in Singles. Julie Christensen and Nina Hinckley 1st Place, No. 1 in Doubles. Joy Johnson and Lisa Barton 1st Place, No. 2 in Doubles. The team won the Region Seven Trophy. These girls competed in the State Meet at B. Y. U. , and took the State Championship with a very impressive showing. The Girls Tennis Team was coached by Coach Wilbur Braithwaite. Coach Braithwaite can be very proud of these girls. Congratulations! 11

Girls Tennis Girls Tennis was another fall sport sponsored at Manti High School. As with many of our sports, it took a great deal of coordination in order to play a good game. The enjoyment and healthy exercise involved made these games worthwhile to those participating. Tennis team members kept up the old Templar tradition and showed their abilities, while in competition with other schools in the Region. Playing against tough and determined opponents, Templars worked to increase their talents the best they could. The 1978 Girls Tennis Team members were: Eileen Nielson, Diana Beal, Nina Hinckley, Lisa Barton, Leslie Graham, Robin Jorgensen, Diane Haymond, Lisa Blankenship, Fem Mortensen, Joy Johnson, Suzanne McBride, and Julie Christensen.

Girls Volleyball The Manti High School Girls Volleyball Team played sensationally this year. Together with a great deal of practice, teamwork, and dedication, the team and coach captured Fifth Place in Region, where they defeated Richfield High School 20 to 13. But that was not all for from there the volleyball team went to State with the Templar fans cheering for them all the way. Congratulations!
