Text from Pages 1 - 92 of the 1962 volume:

© Last year pranksters took the Self-realization sign from its place above the blackboard and tucked it away in a corner of the high school. Its removal left a noticeable blank space in the hall and in the hearts of many of the students. This year we have been given permission to restore it to its place of honor so long as we can prove that we are conscious of its significance and purpose. We, the yearbook staff, have chosen this particular theme for this year's yearbook with the hope that each person may find in it some values which will help him in the fulfillment of his own individual possibilities of character and personality as he strives for a greater sense of self-awareness and accomplishment. STUDENTS —2— South Sanpete Stake Board Members: Eugene Overvelt, Dr. Wendell McGarry, Don Simmons, Evart J. Jensen, Superintendent Barnett, Mariel O. Hansen, and Sec. Margaret Anderson. Dr. Kenneth Braithwaite, not pictured, was appointed as new member of the Board during the course of the year. PRINCIPAL ALBERT C. ANTREI GONE IS THE MAVERICK In the early days of American history it was the Maverick of society who explored the wilderness, invented the what-not, and exploited the resources. Largely and crudely self-trained, few of them were educated beyond basic needs. But today there is no need or function for them. All signs today point out the future only for those who can and will cooperate in scientifically organized exploration, highly technical inventions, and in team exploitation of old and new resources. Today's organization man must also recognize more self-consciously than did the old loner the importance and significance of the interplay of his own soul and personality on his society. He needs God and good government more than ever, and more than ever he needs to understand both. —Albert Antrei Mary Peacock Lanny Lund Richard Cannaday Vivian Detomasi English, Journalism, Soph. Everybody held their breath and finally the letters gleamed with fire. And guess what? The Sophomores won! Instead of the usual Halloween dance the Sophomores decided to have a more formal dance. Perhaps they have started a new tradition. Would you care for a hot dog, Mrs. Cow?' Get ready and let's tune up.
