This is our yearbook. The Clarion, published annually by students at M. H. S. In this book we have tried to capture the special events and the cherished moments that will live on through the years. % Oufi ScA ol, -2- ‘Tttanti f School be§an in the fall with all the excitement of the new Sophomores, and the warm feeling of returning for the Juniors and Seniors. TABLE OF CONTENTS OPENING ADMINISTRATORS and TEACHERS CLASSES STUDENT LIFE and ACTIVITIES Every good thing has to have a good beginning. We can at- tribute M. H. S.'s goodness to the brilliant leadership of Sup- erintendent Barnett and his Board members, along with our efficient, cheerful, faculty and the advice Principal Antrei is always ready to give. As in every school, activities play a very important part, and perhaps here at ol' M.H.S., they play an even greater role. (tyanioK Sfa Art: Betty Nelson. My high school life has been made richer from the experienc- es that are gained from such a position. I can honestly say my Senior year has been the best of the three. I would like to express appre- ciation to our Student Council and Student Council Advisor, Mr. Erickson and Principal Antrei, for the cooperation and assist- ance they so freely gave. Also, I thank the other officers: Gloria Mortensen, Pauline Miller, and Scott Plummer for their superb work in the Student Government. Manti High School will always be a major part of my life in the years to come. Wayne Mangleson Student Body President Hi! Well another year is ended. I have really enjoyed being your Student Body Vice President. I'd like to give a special thanks to those who made it possible. I'm sure we can all look back on this past year with fond memories, mem- ories that will stay with us for a long time. I really think we've had a good year. Our school spirit has really been tops. I will never forget the years I've spent here at M.H.S. I think we really have a wonderful school here. I hope that the Seniors will take good care of this school next year. I'd like to congratulate Wayne on the fine job he has done as Student Body President. Also Scott and Pauline. I've really enjoyed working with them. Gloria Mortensen Student Body Vice-President -10- Pauline Miller Student Body Secretary I'm happy I hcd the opportunity to be Student Body Secretary this past year. It has really been fun as well as a rewarding experience. I have really enjoyed working side by side with Wayne, Gloria and Scott. I would like to express my appreciation to Mr. Erickson, Mr. Antrei, and the Student Body as a whole for their help. Without their cooperation this year wouldn't have been the success I feel it was. Scott Plummer Student Body Activity Manager This year for me has been a very worthwhile and beneficial experience. Everything which has made this a success can be attributed to you, as a Student Body. The support of our school ac- tivities and the school spirit which has existed at them has made me wish I could be more a part of the Student Body than I am or have a right to be. The cooperation of the student body in any under- taking has been appreciated by every member of the Student Council. With such a student body we can indeed say, MHS forever! Our student body and faculty is tops and I wish to express my appreciation. STUDENT COUNCIL The Student Council this year has been a very industrious and ambitious group. They introduced many new activities, one being Student Council Day. -11- -12- Senior Class President: John Wintch Senior Class Vice-President: Beverly Olson Senior Class Secretaries: DeLynn Cook and Mary Anderson (not pictured) ?4ne Occr Seaiord . . , 7% 0 0 0 -14- Linda Allred Mart Dan Anderson Manuel Peggy Lou Allred Peg John Anderson Buddy Betty Ann Anderson Babs Kenneth Bailey Beetle Janet Marie Anderson Janet Richard Bartholomew Beaker Margaret Joy Anderson Short Stuff , , , (fet , , , Roger Carter Rog Mary Ellen Anderson Blondie Joan Boyington Red Don Clark Cluck Karma Braithwaite Karm Peter Gonzales Pete .., SfuM ned Seuun .. All during the three years we attended Manti High School, this was the long awaited moment. Now that it has come, we find it a time for joy, a time for tears, a time we'll treasure through the years. From the first time we set foot in this ol' high school as timid Sophomores to Graduation Day, there were some very fond memories being created — The Horse Back Ride, all the pains we went through to get up to Milk Creek and worse ones when it came to going home; the Letter-lighting and the anticipation of wondering whose letter would win; the formal dances of the year like the Pep Club Formal, the Senior Ball, and the most remembered one of all — that glorious night of the Junior Prom. We can't forget the excitement of basketball season. Remember the first night that the team came running onto the floor, all fresh, full of vim, vigor, and that out-to-win look in their eye? Of course here were the school plays and that always added a little tenseness and excitement to the air. We hope that in this book we have cap- tured some of your favorite moments and activities during this school year of 1960-61. We want to acknowledge and give a special thanks to our Clarion Staff, Mr. Jensen our advisor, and Mr. Cannaday our Photographer.
