On April 17 these students from MHS represented Romania at the Model United Nations Assembly held in Salt Lake City. On May 15, the students at MHS again white-washed the M as has been an annual tradition each school year. We'll remember always Graduation Day In May of '59 as the school year draws to a close we gaze back through space to see what advancements we've made in this rocket age. What do we see? The sophomores have completed their preparation for flight take-off and will re- turn as juniors to board their rockets and continue traveling through space toward the moon. The juniors, who have withstood the pressure of the take-off and have been trav- eling through space for a year will return next year very much nearer to their goal. They will be prepared to make the landing on the moon. Again next year a group of new faces will be entering the doors of MHS — each facing this challenge of education — to advance into the year of space travel, so they, too, will reach their goal — their first stepping stone, the moon, which is a high school diploma at graduation. Our graduating class, the seniors, will advance onward into the future from this first goal to explore another new world filled with challenge and excitement. -22-

Participants from M.H.S. in the reading division at the Regional Speech Meet were: Marilyn Poulsen, Carol Ann Braithwaite, and Marcia Sorensen. On March 6 these M.H.S. Students participated in the debate divis- ion at the Regional Speech Meet: 6th place winners of the district were Carol Willardsen and David R. Nielsen; 3rd place were Rox- anne Mortensen and Larry Reed, 1st place were Ida Lee Willard- sen and Reed Nielson. On March 20 the Regional Commercial Meet was held at Snow College. Participants in the Type Division were: Sandra Barnett, Jeanine Bahr, Ann Pederson, Sherry Mellor, and Linda Blackham. Bookkeeping: Carol Willardsen, Larry Reed, Roxanne Mortensen, and Evelyn Funk. Shorthand: Roxanne Mor- tensen, and Evelyn Funk.
