Convention liture As we entered the doors of MHS for the first time, we felt green and in- experienced in the new venture we were making. As sophomores we began charting our course that we planned to follow on our voyage through high school. We layed the foundation for our education by the classes in which we enrolled. Yes ... we began to load our rocket ship and prepare for the take-off. By the time we returned to MHS as juniors, we had gained the knowledge and made the calculations necessary in making this space travel to the moon. By putting this knowledge to work, we were successful in launching our rocket ship and beginning the voyage through space. Toward the end of our junior year, we began to see the progress we had made. Now our goal . . . the moon . . . seemed very near. Having completed these steps in previous years, in '58 and '59 we again returned to MHS. We were seniors at last. Through the aid of the knowledge we have gained during our junior and sophomore years, we have been able to land our rocket safely on the moon. Our long awaited vision is now a reality. We have reached our first goal — our first stepping stone. Our first voyage is completed and we have a firm foundation from which we can make our next voyage on into the future, toward bigger, better, and still higher goals. -1- CyVecorders and CJhistorians Evelyn Funk, Carol Ann Braithwaite, Karen Cherry, Business Managers. On May 15, the students at MHS again white-washed the M as has been an annual tradition each school year. We'll remember always Graduation Day In May of '59 as the school year draws to a close we gaze back through space to see what advancements we've made in this rocket age. What do we see? The sophomores have completed their preparation for flight take-off and will re- turn as juniors to board their rockets and continue traveling through space toward the moon. The juniors, who have withstood the pressure of the take-off and have been trav- eling through space for a year will return next year very much nearer to their goal. They will be prepared to make the landing on the moon. Again next year a group of new faces will be entering the doors of MHS — each facing this challenge of education — to advance into the year of space travel, so they, too, will reach their goal — their first stepping stone, the moon, which is a high school diploma at graduation. Our graduating class, the seniors, will advance onward into the future from this first goal to explore another new world filled with challenge and excitement. -22- Gayle Gayle On Dec. 10, Coach Goodwin chose our M.H.S. We feel certain that it was only through their interest and help that we were able to make the CLARION worthwhile. We would also like to express our appreciation to the organizations in Ephraim, Manti, and Sterling who have seen fit to advertise in the CLARION. It is through their financial support that we are able to meet the cost of print- ing this book. To all students who have helped in any way, to the staff, Mr. Pederson, the printers, and the advertising associa- tions, again we say — THANK YOU On March 19 MHS presented three one-act plays.
