ScAoot Seyi«t4- September 17, found the girls donning their levis and old shoes and piling into jeeps with the boys. We're from Manti High and no one could be prouder echoed through the can- yon as they found their way up to Brox's. However, M. H. S. divided into four parts that night, and each was pulling for his own class as the letters burst into flame. The Freshman class came through with top honors for their letter, and the Juniors took first with their program. At the crack of dawn on October 2, the age old custom of a horseback ride again transpired. In the midst of the colorful array of autumn leaves a memorable ex- perience was enjoyed by both students and teachers. They came by truck, jeep, jalopy, and horseback to the site of Milkcreek camp grounds where hamburgers and punch were served and games were played. -10- As the new school year began, classmates prepared to take another step toward Self Realization. Beneath gay hello's of renewing old acquaintances, deep consideration was taking place as to what classes would help them in life, on this day of registration.

To officially proclaim the member- ship of the Freshmen into the high school, gleeful suffering of ini- tiations was imposed on the green- ies by their masters the Sopho- mores. To the glow of candlelight, the atmosphere of Hernando's Hide-a- way was portrayed by the Freshie Hop. Peals of laughter rang out from the auditorium as Miss Marble and Mr. Antrei sang and did a hilarious pantomime to Make Love to Me in the Faculty Assembly. Mr. Steinkert de- lighted the group as he played on the piano, novel versions of Jingle Bells. Mantinee dances were enjoyed at various times during the school year. -11-
