The C ass History of 19 9 On a clear bright morning in August of 1955, forty-five Freshies made their first entrance into the halls of M. H. S. Although we were G reen we weren't a bit shy. In our first class meeting we elected Bob Carter, Pre- sident: Kenny Bertrand, Vice-President, Ora Lee La More, Secretary-Treasurer: Stuart Switzer, Student Council Representatives and Ora Lee La More our Annual Staff member. Mr. Shreffler and Mrs. Emmons were our class- sponsors. Later in the year Bob Carter andOra Lee La More were elected best Freshmen. As Freshmen we thought our world had really been turned topsy-turvy when we had to dress that way for initiation. CClothes inside out and backwardsg After suffering through that, we looked forward to being sophomores. Wilma Brown, Charles Abbott, Jerry Pearce and Robert Lagesse, joined us during the year, but Patsy Uran, Pam Cummings and Judy Marek moved elsewhere. Our members swelled to fifty-sixinourSophomore year by adding Mae Prairie, Pat Holmes, Mary Lou Jacobs, Sandy Lawrence, Tanny Trepanier, Jim Saunders, Norma Trzmer, Sandra Benoit, Sandra Mettlock, and Bill Cas- per. We closed the year with fifty-four members as Sandra Bacon and Smart Switzer left. Officers for the year were Bob Carter, President: Kent Crouse, Vice-President: Ora Lee La More, Secretary-Treasurer: Kenny Bertrand and Jerry Pearce, Student Council members: Kelly Leverett was our Amiual Staff representative and Kelly Leverett and Bob Carter were selected as best Sophomores. Sponsors for the year were Mrs. Rice and Mr. Hayes. Betty Niet- feldt and Sandy Lawrence were elected members of the Girls Athletic Board. As Sophomores we enjoyed the oppor- tunity of initiating this year's Green Freshmenl! Seeing their green make-up and turned about clothes brought back memories. The farll F reshmen-Sophomore party was fun tool What a wonderful feeling it was to know we were Juniors in the fall of 1957. Officers elected for the coming year were: President, Harold Schroth: Vice-President, Kent CrousegSecretary,Mary Lou Jacobs: Treasurer, Kelly Leverett: Student Council members were Stuart Switzer and Bob Carter. On theGirls Athletic Board were Betty Nietfeldt and Sandy Lawrence. Annaul staff representatives were Kelly Leverett, Darlene Reardanz, Mary Lou Jacobs, Kathy Pilcher and Judy Wilson. Mr. Shreffler and Mr. Battrell were our sponsors. Best Juniors were Judy Wilson and Bob Carter. Our first highlight of the year was the Junior Class Play, a three act comedy entitled The Boarding House Reach, directed by Mr. Harvey Battrell. The Junior-Senior Prom given in May was our sec- ond big event. Tropical Fantasy was the theme of the all-night prom which included a movie and a chicken feast in the early morning hours. During the year Della Spaenhower, Lowell Jacobs, Jackie Friego, Phyllis Simmons and Stuart Sweitzer joined our class, while KentC rouse, Ronald Curl, Ora Lee La More, Betty Nietfeldt, Harry Mimiish, Norma Turner, Kenny Triebull, James Saunders, Mary Ann McNulty and Charles Abbott were no longer with us. Ah, Seniors at lastIClass officers for this all important year were: President, Harold Schroth, Vice-President: La Vern Keller: Secretary. Judy Wilson: Treasurer, Sandy Lawrence. Our class sponsors were Mr. Hayes and Mr. Bieber. Student Council representatives elected were: Bob Carter, Stuart Switzer and Kenny Bertrand. Senior An- nual staff members were Kelly Leverett, Darlene Reardanz, Mary Lou Jacobs, Judy Wilson, Eloise Gordon, Kathy Jo Pilcher and Harold Schroth. We were glad to have Tom Thornton join our class of 1959 but were sorry to lose Larry Pool, Phyllis Simmons, and Jackie F reigo. On November 7, we presented the Senior Class Play Shy Guy under the direction of Miss Bette Rockwood. Some of the other money raising activities for that all important Senior trip have been: built forty pigloos, three paper drives, sold school pencils, basketball programs, bedroom slippers and numerous other things. It was well worth our efforts because we throughly enjoyed our class trip. Now, as we end our school days at M. H. S. with graduation we look forward to what the future holds.
