The murders were probably the most bizarre in the annals of American crime, he said. Now 43, Manson used sexual perversion, drugs and daily sermons to gain mental control over his approxi- mately 60 followers. His family was completely sub- servient to him, Bugliosi said. More recently Bugliosi became tangentially involved in an investigation of the Robert Kennedy assassination. He said he came up with some remarkable stuff which led him to believe more than one gun may have been used, meaning more than one assassin was involved. Bugliosi said he is convinced of Sirhan Sirhan ' s guilt (convicted of the assassination). Asked if he agreed with the United States Supreme Court Chief lustice ' s assertion that 50 percent of the lawyers in the U.S are inept, Bugliosi said that the per- centage of inept trial lawyers is even higher. y 1 Z - Vincent Bugliosi 35 OMICRON GAMMA PI FASHION SHOW APRIL 9, 1978 36 OriT Fashion Shov KELLY MONTEITH APRIL 11, 1978 Kelly Monteith 37 BONNIE RAITT APRIL 13, 1978 38 Bonnie Rant FROMAGE NOVEAU APRIL 13 - 15,1978 Fromaee Noveau 39 MARCH OF DIMES WALKATHON APRIL 15, 1978 $4000 SUCCESS p $?. -Ui.- ' March of Dimes VValkathon 3hK | SPECIAL OLYMPICS APRIL 18, 1978 Special Olympics 41 ARTHUR HALL ' S AFRO - AMERICAN DANCE ENSEMBLE APRIL 20, 1978 :ii: -I Dick Gregory DICK GREGORY APRIL 21,1978 42 Black Week CROWN HEIGHTS AFFAIR APRIL 22,1978 Black Week 43 WHITE WATER FLOAT TRIP APRIL 21, 1978 About 50 students braved the cloudy, cold weather to venture 20 miles down Pine Creek in the Grand Canyon. His years of service are deeply appreciated. Dr. Joseph |. Moore is retiring this year after serving Mansfield State College since 1941. He has served the student body, faculty, and employees faithfully and well, meeting the challenge of a changing society by his continued dedication to the promotion of good health care. He is a graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, Franklin Marshall College and the University of Pennsylvania Medical School. From 1939 to 1973 he had a large General Practice in Mansfield, serving the community and surrounding areas with sincere dedication. Students who are willing to devote time and talent to pro- vide the very best in campus social programs. CUB is the co-ordinator for dances, concerts, movies, plays, speakers and coffee houses. A sophomore from Olean, NY., Pikulski ran up 22-10-1 record which included 10 tournament wins. The 167-pounder placed third at the NCAA Division III National Tournament following a fourth place finish at the Pennsylvania State College Conference Championships in February. He now qualifies as a Division III All- American. He is the fourth wrestler in Mountie history to earn that distinction. Four-year varsity performer Dale larvis set a new school record for career wins this season as he finished his career with a 54-28- 1 record. The 126-pounder ' s 54 wins topped the record formerly held by Mike Fiamingo, who had won 47 matches between 1972 and 1976. A native of Athens. Pa., larvis was hampered by the flu throughout the last half of the season, but still managed an impressive 12-5-1 mark John McCloud battled his way to a 15-9 season, which included the championship of the Cortland Invitational Tournament at 150 lbs.. The senior from New Kensington, Pa., participated for this third straight year at the NCAA Div. Ill Nationals and concluded his career with a fine 36-21-3 record. The third senior who had an outstanding season was Sayre. Pa., native. Dana Twigg. At 158 lbs., Twigg ran up a 13-2 dual meet record which included a nine- match winning streak. With less than three full years of varsity participation, Twigg concluded his career with a 28-12 record. His .700 winning percentage was second only to school record holder, Mike Fiamingo, whose career percentage was .737 over four seasons. Despite the team ' s losing record, coach Murray Davidson pointed out that the quality of the Mountie schedule, which included matches with three Div. I teams and a number of small college powers, was exceptional. The team was also decimated b the flu in early February when it dropped five of its last six matches to finish at 6-11. Following a last-place finish at the Pennsylvania State College Conference Championships, the Mounties redeemed themselves at the NCAA Division III Meet when they placed in the top 30 in the 92-team tournament. Thank you for investing in the College ' s future. - -p 1 THE WHITE HOUSE WASHINGTON May 2, 1978 TO THE 1978 GRADUATES OF MANSFIELD STATE COLLEGE It gives me great pleasure to recognize and applaud your achievements as you mark this important point in your life. You are privileged to have had the chance to enjoy the freedom of spirit and flexibility of thought that an educational experience allows. But in the years ahead, your ability to think independently will be tested by the increasing responsibilities you must face. The years you have spent in schools and college will be a success if they have equipped you to withstand those pressures. The basic human truths and commitments that education teaches are fundamental to our democratic ideals. They give us our na- tional strength, spirit, and unity. They endure despite the pressures of daily life. They prepare us to exercise our responsibilities as citizens — including voicing our concerns and criticisms when public officials fall short of the standards we have set for our country. As you complete your years of college, your horizons will broaden, and you will bear part of the shared human responsibility for the affairs of your community and your nation. I hope that you, as educated citizens, will see this as a privilege and a responsibility. REMEMBER . . .
