Mus., University of Michigan Mus, A.D., Boston University The music department, as its main emphasis, prepares teachers of music for the public schools of the Common- wealth. It provides a spirited program of curricular and extracurricular activities. In addition to concerts given by the bands, choruses, and orchestra, numerous recitals are performed by faculty members and students, and two major productions a year are presented by the Opera Workshop. At football games the Mountie Marching Band adds a note of spirit and color. Any student, regardless of major area of study, may audition for positions in the music organizations. The degrees offered by the music department are Bachelor of Science in Music Education, Bachelor of Liberal Arts with an area of specialization in music, and on the graduate level a Master of Education with a major in Music Education.
