“The Rose” The theme for the 1980 homecoming was “The Rose.” The Queen, chosen by the student body this year, was Don- na Starcher. Her escort was Tom Mur- phy. The court, also chosen by the stu- dent body, consisted of: Patti McCam- bridge escorted by Paul Schroeder, Holly Heston escorted by Jim Bishop, Kathy Clay escorted by Darren Stevens, and Krystal Owens escorted by Greg Gary. Karl Schroeder and Cathy Offmiss were M.C.’s. Jerry Fliger made the opening speech titled ‘‘What Is Homecoming? Jamie Hilliard serenaded the Queen with the song “One in a Million” and Rachel Kick, Rhonda Sylvester, Anne Howard, and Julie Owens sang the theme song ““The Rose.” A dance that evening was D.J.’ed by Gary Perl, program director at G98. “Through the Decades” The 1980 Varsity Variety theme was “Through the Decades’ spon- sored by the senior class. And this year the production took place on three nights, Nov. 20, 21, and 22, for the first time. Each act followed through with the theme. The Jazz band entertained before, at intermission, and after the show. } Director of the production was Rachel Kick, assistant was Norine Daugherty, and Alec Demoise was the Producer. Matt Todd was Art Director. Mrs. Kohutek and Mr. Lull were the Senior Class advisors. 20
