Tygers Take City Championship The fighting Tygers finished the season with a 1-7-2 record; nevertheless, they won the city title. The Tygers defeated Malabar 7-3 in the third game of the season to win the city championship. The Tygers went on to tie such state ranked teams as county rival Mansfield Madison, 14-14. Later in the year the Tygers tied state ranked Buckeye Conference foe Sandusky 6-6 in a very exciting game. Tygers Mike Lehman, Steve Finical, Scott Green and Courtney Avery received captains awards. Other awards went to Mike Cline, Best Offensive Back; Steve Finical, Best Offensive Lineman; Mike Lehman, Best Defensive Back; John Petrovski, Best Defensive Lineman. Dale Roberts received the Jimo Adams award. The coaches award was given to Joe Holmes. The Tyger reserves finished the season with a 1-6 record, while the freshman squad ended the year with a winning 4-2 record. Tennis Girls Gain Experience This year our Girls’ Tennis Team had a new coach, Marty Elias. He worked very hard to ae help the girls develop their AY A tennis skills. The girls tried is ; aoa! i : their best and have learned a lot this year. Their record was 3-7. Special awards went to Becky Roessler for most valuable player. Debbie Pollock and Lisa Heston were the most improved. Becky Roessler was also the only three year letter winner. Marty Elias commented that many games were lost by only one point.
