Tygers Break Even in '77 This year’s Tyger football team came up with a satisfactory .500 season. Although the Tygers were shut out in three of their games, they made up for it by skunking two other teams. The loss to Malabar was a disappointment, but the Tygers came back to stomp Madison the following week. The highlight of the season was a whirlwind comeback toward the end of the season to win the last two games of the season. Outstanding players of the season were offensive lineman Mike Hoy for the second year in a row, Offensive back Jerry Powell, defensive lineman Dennis Ferguson, and defensive back Robert Williams. Jeff Divelbiss won the Jimo Adams Award, while the coaches’ award went to Dave Graber. Mike Hoy, Jerry Powell, and Jim Adams received the captains’ awards. Ray Bauhs made first team All Buckeye Conference. Named to second team were Powell, Twyman, Hoy, Williams, Adams, Ferguson, and Divelbiss. Opposite page Top right: Tygers gnaw the falcons. Cross Country Team Looks to Future The cross country team had a rather discouraging season, finishing with an 0-12 record. However, there was a good turnout for the team, so next year’s prospects should be better. Wayne Curry was the outstanding runner for the year. He not only qualified for district competition, but also captured the school record for two and one-half miles — 13:38. Tygers placed fourth in the Buckeye Conference and tenth in the sectionals.
