(Mary Meek Atkeson) , If you have anything really valuable to contribute to the world, it will come through the expression of your own personality—that single spark of divinity that sets you off and makes you different from every other living creature. (Bruce Barton) So long as enthusiasm lasts, so long is youth still with us. (David Starr Jordan) Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed. (Booker T. They formed the Class of 1976. Chosen as leaders for the sophomore year were Robert Avery, presi- dent, Isaac Robinson, vice-president; Mary McGraw, secretary; and Liz Woods, treasurer. Advisors were Miss Shafer and Mr. Campbell. Projects included a candy sale and the student- faculty volleyball game. Homecoming was the highlight of the junior year. Cindy Weirich was crowned queen, and the theme chosen was “You Are the Sunshine of My Life”. New officers elected were Julie Clay, president; Julie Jackson, vice-president; Cheryl Rodriguez, secretary; and Liz Woods returned as treasurer. Mrs. Hane replaced Miss Shafer as an advisor. Senior year saw the production of Varsity Varieties and a most successful citrus sale at Christmas. Julie Clay was crowned queen of the J.C. Gorman Tournament. Class Day, the prom, and Commencement held the best memories of all. The class prospered under the leadership of Cheryl Rodriguez, president; Kathy Elkins, vice- president; Brenda Hamblin, secretary; and Deb- bie Bowers, treasurer. As editor of this year’s Manhigan, I would like to thank all those who worked hard and long to put this book together. First of all, my thanks goes to all the staff members who made this 1976 Manhigan possible. Without them there would be none. I would also like to express my appreciation to our advisor, Mr. Dave Gross, and the American Yearbook represen- tative, Mr. Earl Parks, for all their time. My thanks also goes to our photographer, Dave Dotson, for the many fine pictures he took. His time and talent have made this Manhigan a reality. Smucker’s Studio should be commended for taking pictures at many eve nts and developing and printing many of our pictures. A big thanks goes to the Mansfield News- Journal for furnishing many great pictures. Special thanks goes to Mr. Au and the business staff for their hard work with advertising, sales, and distribution. Credit for the picture of the tiger on the cover goes to Mare and Evelyne Bernheim from Woodfin Camp and Associates of New York City. In closing, I want to wish next year’s Manhigan staff the best of luck and hope that they will find it as rewarding as I did. lonely Goned, 162 Gorman-Rupp congratulates....
