★ Dedication To HERMAN D. BISHOP To Herman D. Bishop, advisor and counselor to each and every student and graduate,do we, the graduating class of 1954, dedicate our yearbook. We dedicate it to him for his unceasing aid to youth throughout his year as an instructor and for his desire to see that the best for the students was done, even though it sometimes meant his taking a set-back. Rather than letting those times of discouragement get the best of him, he worked that much harder. Mr. Bishop was born in the year 1895 at Ringgold, Ohio. He attended Ohio University where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree after which he taught Social and Economic Problems at Wilkesville, Ohio, until he entered the army in 1917. Top Sgt. Bishop served 14 months in a Signal Corps Battalion in France. After the armistice, owing to his scholastic record and his commanding officer he was allowed to take a post-graduate course at the University of Nancy in Nancy, France. Mr. Bishop taught for a year at Fredericktown, Ohio, and then went to McConnelsville, Ohio, where he was principal from 1920 to 1924. In the fall of 1924 he came to M.H.S. to teach Social and Economic Problems; two years later he was appointed assistant principal. In 1936 Mr. Bishop received his Masters degree from Ohio State University. Mr. Bishop was the first president of the Mastersingers, is a member of the Masons, and is president of the Board of Klienesingers. His never-ending aid and assistance to us has made him respected and admired by all. 7
