IXII Art Lomax Jerry Howell Terry Saprano Carol Schad PRESIDENT VICE'PRESIDENT SECRETARY TREASURER CLASS HISDCRY Mrs. Mildred Hoffman CLASS ADVISOR As always between two great business firms there is high spirits and keen competition. The two firms decided to test their strength against each other in sports. All over the Mansfield Territory peoply came to see the Appleseed-S1mp- son game. The advertising department of both firms were well aware that a pretty face sells any product, so from both offices queens and atten- dents were elected to cheer the public on and to raise the morals of the two teams. By popular vote, Gretchen Snyder was elected queen at Simp- son, Inc., and Kathleen Bolin, queen at Apple- seed, Inc. The great day dawn-gray, cloudy, and -rain ing so hard as to fill up the great Arlln Stad- iu enough to have a swimming meet. The queens, goreously arrayed in their own fine colors, drove around in their respective convertmobiles and waved to the thousands of cheering spectators. Despite the cheering throngs, the Simpson Bulldogs were drowned by the Appleseeds officers 13-7. and their good luck even left them when basketball season rolled around. Unfortunately Simpson lost again 33-51. That year was glowing victory era for the Appleseed Bldg. and a bitter loss for Simpson. Simpson, however, Kept up its propaganda paper under the co-direction of editor-in-chief, Art Lomax, and Art Hergatt, business manager. while Appleseed, not to be undone, okayed Mary Pearson, editor, and Jim Shambaugh, business manager, to write up the latest rag sheet to compete with S1mpson's glorious accounts of the merits of their offices. Of course, every enterprising young bus- iness needs competant leader to raise the bus- 1ness's accounts and bonds. The head ones who rose in the ranks of Simpson were Delbert Wright President: Art Lomax and Dave Letlzla, Co-v1ce- president: Norma Beal, Secretary: Peggy Mattox and Gayle Henderson, Co-treasurer. The leaders at Appleseed were Eddie Vild, President: Jerry Howell, Vice-presldentg Bruce Bushnell, Trea- surerg Thelma PO0Fman, Secretary. In the year 1951, 252 sophomore employees from the Johnny Appleseed Inc., and 298 employ- ees from the John Simpson Inc., were promoted to the Home Office, Mansfield Senior High.
