5-'HQ' 'MV' ' 'ilr Mr. Bishop THE MAN who is posing with the pretty student is our assistant principal. He fully intended to become a physician, and had completed some of his pre-medical work when circumstances forced him to leave school. He began teaching, found that he liked the Work, and has been doing that ever since. He Was principal in three schools before he came to Mansfield as assistant principal. He has held this posi- tion for eleven years. Woodworking is one of his chief hobbies, in fact, he taught such a course for five years. Graduating classes have had him as advisor several times, he has been a dramatic coach also. His greatest satisfaction lies in Watch- ing boys and girls grow up and establish themselves in life. Foremost in this man's interests is his desire to help stud- ents fit into the community as useful citizens. Mr. Bishop is a member of the Amer- ican Legion, the P. T. A., and has been advisor to the Senior Hi-Y since 1930. ..... ,.,.l.L.........-i . Mr. Beer OUR PRINCIPAL is just finishing his ninth year at M. H. S. His academic education began in a country school and progressed until he had become head of the Science Department at Ohio Northern Uni- versity.' His favorite subjects in both teaching and research were Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics. His chief re- gret is that he cannot find time for all of the additional things he would like to do, namely, experimental work in plant cul- ture. His favorite sports are baseball, fishing, and hunting. He is intensly in- terested in young people and their problems. it is a privilege to him to help a stud- ent acquire the right attitude toward life and help him make it happier and more successful. 'The mischievousness of youth he ascribes to enthusiasm that has not been tempered by the sober thoughts the years bring. He firmly believes that the old as well as the young should continue to learn, and that the elders often lack the vigorous imagination, the friendly and wholesome attitude, and the hopeful atti- tude toward life that belongs to the young people. ,,,
