SENIOR HISTORY In the fall of 1950 M H S rang wrth seven cheerful vorces of happy excrted and scared graduates of grade school Those beg1nn1ng that year were Wxlma Srmpson Evelyn Bowers Mary Jean Thomsen Joyce Asmussen Kexth Smrth and Gerald Petersen On October 5th we were mntnated by the Sophomores The grrls were dressed ln cut off jeans and mens shrrts whrle the boys borrowed rhexr costumes from therr mothers wardrobe Raw eggs shoe pollsh and llp strck completed our attlre EVELYN BOWERS We gave the Freshmen Return Party on December 8th Dancmg was the hlgh lnght of entertamment Refreshments were served Sxx Sophomores entered M H S rn the fall of 1951 wxth the hope of havmg a lrttle more fun than the frrst year We rnmated the Freshmen on the 4th of September Th1s proved to be qurte a lot of fun Barbara Evans left us the frrst of September On December 8th we gave our Sophomore Hop The Melodrers furmshed the musrc and everyone seemed to have fun The year continued wlth everyone gomg on about h1s busmess The Jumors were very happy to start school rn the fall of 1952 as we were now upper classmen The class nenther mcreased or decreased durmg that year Fund ralslng was the rmportant proyect A dance was held Novem ber 29th w1th the Serenaders furmshxng the musrc to ard our money makmg project Plans were made for the junror Prom Electron for the royalty was held Mary jean Thomsen was elected queen wrth Evelyn Bowers and Joyce Asmussen as prmcesses The theme chosen was Blue Moon The gym was decorated 1n blue and srlver The prom was held Aprrl 24 1953 wnth the coronatron at 10 30 P M The muslc was furnrshed by the Knrghts of Melody The fall of 1953 was very eventful We were now Semors Our Senro Ball was held October 23 Evelyn Bowers was queen of this gala event The gym was decorated wrth hundreds of balloons and everyone enjoyed them selves dancrng to the musxc of Steve Laugherys orchestra The Semors went to Spokane on November 7th to have our pxctures taken Mr and Mrs Evans and Mr and Mrs Thomsen were our chaperons The Semor play was gnven wrth the ard of other M H S students dur mg the frrst week in Aprnl followed by the Senlor tr1o whrch we took the week before Baccalaureate Baccalaureate was held May 16th rn the gymnaslum Then the fmal mght came when we graduated May 22 1954 We ar no longer Semors but wzll always remember that mght as one of the happ1est of our lrves 10- , . . . 1 . . . . . ! 3 3 9 I . . , . . 5 ' I . . , . . . . . . . , . . . . . . . 0 n ' . . . SENIOR PROPHECY As we look rnto our future we see the year 1974 It rs a sunny afternoon rn May just twenty years after the great class of 54 graduated Mrs Evans granddaughter rs lrstenmg mtently to the descrrpron of thls famous class This rs what Mrs Evans IS rellrng her Eleven boys have arrnved at the home of Kelth and Bonnle Smlth SIHCC Verle decrded to become a general Kerth has taken over the ranch At the present trme he owns all of Douglas county and has hrs cattle ranges rn Oka nogan county Kexth rarses Angus cattle and wheat The last Llfe contamed an article about the great hunter Gerald Pet ersen Hrs greatest drscovery was a green dragon wlth purple polka dots whrle huntmg snovs shoe rabblts rn Alaska He IS now on a huntmg safarr rn Afrlca lookmg for a toothless crocodnle Gerald left Mansfreld when he discovered the huntmg was better elsewhere Immedrately after graduatron Evelyn Bowers began her career as a nurse She has traveled all over the world durlng her career Evelyn marrred the head doctor at the Sacred Heart Hospltal durrng the frve years she spent there They now have frve grrls Evelyn IS gomg to turn them all rnto nurses and start a hosprtal rn Mansfreld for her fellow classmates Mary jean Thomsen changed her nrckname of Maggre to Mother shortly after she graduated She marrred a Flyboy rn june 1954 and moved to Hollywood Mary jean IS now workmg for Unrversal Internatlonal as a baby srtter Outsxde of workmg hours she keeps house for her cheaper by the dozen famrly oyce Asmussen upon graduatmg from M H S began studyrng for her M R S degree She al odeveloped the new process of H H O H W R Q fhrttmg husband over head wrth rollrrg pm quretlyb For thus great servrce to the world of women she recelved a Nob l Avs ard This new process made her frrst mrllron and now she rs quletly retlred on her 77 000 lcre ranch rars mg registered Herefords and her four sets of twms OUR SENIOR BALL 'WH' 2.-
