Character is the total of thousands of small daily strivings to live up to the best that is in us. Character is the final decision to reject whatever is demeaning to oneself or to others and with confidence and honesty to choose the right. We hope your future years will be happy and productive. May you derive every joy and achieve every success you wish. The Mans- field Public Schools are proud of their graduating class of 1979. Good Luck, Graduates! Sincerely, Robert V. Barbarisi 1. Jeffrey Ptaschnik, Ph.D. Superintendent Assistant Superintendent of Schools of Schools James S. Fitzgerald School Business Administrator When you receive this yearbook you will find yourselves dis- banded — each going his own way. Each will find his place in the scheme of things of our great land. The adult world faces a future with mixed emotions filled with uncertainties. It is the character of youth to be optimistic. It is my sincere wish that you keep this optimism and, through wise choices of voca- tion, fulfill our wishes for your success. Success comes surely to those who have courage and to those who turn their talents to activities in which there is an awareness that the thing being done is essential. Optimism will enable you to set goals; courage will ensure their attainment. William DeStefano Principal Jean Vaz Maureen MacKinnon TO THE CLASS OF 1979 Whatever seems important today might not even be desirable tomorrow. Please set your priorities and if what you desire is morally and ethically sound, fight for it with every bit of energy and strength you possess. Then, and only then, can you live with yourself and attain some measure of self- respect and happiness. J. Then, on December 18th, many hours of rehearsal and hard work were appreciated when the MHS Concert Choir and Band filled the air with ‘Sounds of Christmas” which included a musical performance by both groups and a play presented by the choir, who throughout the season, also made appearances at Nursing Homes, the Mansfield Library, and Cedar Court, etc. Human candy canes, skinny Santa Clauses, and merry elves were the sights on ‘‘Christmas Dress Down Day’’, sponsored by the Student Council. Proceeds were sent to the Globe Santa and the event was enjoyed by all.
