Velne te feu Dien. het) Hew by Emma Chase We have gathered here tonight to close fittingly three of the happiest years of our lives - the vears spent in Mansfield High School. During this period, we hnve been accomplishing worth-while things - things which will help to make life more comprehensible. Tonight we finish our preliminary training; tonorrow we shall stand upon the pier where our ship is anchored, waiting for us to bogin the great voyage, and we shall gaze with awe upon the vast deep before vs. Confident in our high school preparation, we shall sail out fear- lossly and couregeously, though we realize that the course we must follow is not an easy one. There will be many obstacles to overcome, 3b with perseverance, honesty, initiative, and loyalty, we shall ve SolesbG) sceer Our Sshiip successfully around’ the rocks, The crags’ will. ireaten us, the swirling whirlpools will entice us, and the sirens of the reofs will sing to us, but if we are always guided by the clear hite light of the beacon of our goal, we shail never veer from the course. Before we embark, we wish to express our deep appreciation and conanks to our teachers who have so willingly and so unselfishly aided aan Our preparation: for this voyage. it is their help that has made it possible for us to face the future with faith and courage. To our parents, who, we know, have mode great sacrifices that we might hnve a high school cducation, we wovld express our decp gratitude. We know that their love and interest will follow us throughout life wherever we may b e. It is they who will wish us a cheery Bon Voyage when our ship glides slowly out into the bay. We will never forget what they have done for us. . Tonight we tale leave of our school and the undergreduntes. We sincerely hope that those with whom we have had so many good times and with whom we have sharod so meny anxieties, defeats and triumphs, will succeed in whatever they mazy undertake. We know that they will honor and cherish the fair name of Mansfield high even as we have done. Classmates: With mingled feelings of regret ond anticipation, we teke farewell of one another. It is hard to say goodbye, but we would not have it otherwise. Chanfe brings development and progress. Let our one desire be for a successful life, and lect us nover forget that success implies more than material achievement - it means charactor and willing service to others. In the years ahead may we attain the highest, and may we be justly proud to recognize one another as members of the Class of 1955. Tomorrow when we weigh anchor, a full realization of life's seriousness will come to us. Unhesitating and confident let us set forth, knowing thot Honor Awaits at Labor's Gate.”
