The History of the Class of 1933 In the Year of Our Lord nineteen hundred and thirty, on 4 glorious smoamer's day in the month of June, a band of youths and maidens bade adieu to their friends in the settlement of the Junior High Scho:l, on the banks of the Rumford River, 2nd set out for a land of further educitional opportunities. ‘fter two months of pleasint sailing, this band disembarded, eighty-eight stronz, upon the shores of the Colony of Mansfield High School, September 2, 1930. Here ve were heartily welcomed by the Governor, “verett W. Robinson, who, after giving us tract of land Numcer 5, and outlining the curriculum and ru les of the ecotony, turned us over’ to Miss Jones,, our adviser for the next tue years. Forthvith we chose our leaders for this Clauss of 19535, 28s ve soon becime known: William Clem, eresident; Hda Carbonetti, vice- president; Hlizabeth Cochran, treisurer; end Umma Chase, scrihe. PMhertell term pressed uneventiully for us, since we vere 211 studying ambitiougsly. One morniygg in the last we3k of the month of february, hovever, there wus great exciteinaent snong the members Szegurselass. Upon inguiry, J] found:that the cause of the excite- ment “was an aporoaching assembly t which two of our elss were tO be warded basketball letters. Sure enough! Mater in the day, amid the spolause of the colony,.xlorsnce Murphy 2nd Himme Chase vere presented letters. in lftrch we were fortuniute to receive into our midst red Padley, from Detroit, ifichigin. Piano Pico vot, an the Arnal pPrediminnry sperking Contest, our class was renresented by Hmma Cheese, Henrietts Green, J2ck Piger,enin Groany, nd Tilliom, Clem. . The winnervof this’ conteat wis none other thin our president, William Clem, who emerged Victoriously in the Singleton Contest, also, thus giving the colony a Second inscription on the Singicton Cup, “2 greut honor for our Olasseasiwellonas ‘for’ the colony. In b2seb21l Normin Chapmun, our oniy three-letter $h athicte, was awarded a letter. Throughout the ye2rr miny of vur cl“ ss won honors for devotion 40 tUneir studies: Wury Isabel Cook was: avarded = gold picce in Pein alam enrry nnd Klie=nor licingyrc, gold piccss in commercirl geogrinhy;, and Ythel Pazit, = gold pisee in bookkecving.
