CURPSYCHIATRIC TRAINING IS OBTAINED AT MASSILLON STATE HOSPITAL Know thyself . All through training we have heard this statement. Psychiatric affiliation at Massillon entrenches forever in our minds the vital importance and meaning of this basic prerequisite in caring for people. The keeper of the keys in a hospital for the mentally ill has a responsibility and obligation to patients and co-workers. Although many wooden and metal doors' are kept locked, the ultimate goal in psychia- tric care is to unlock the troubled mind by accepting the patient and his illness, building trust, observing, relating, and listening. Through our instructor, Mrs. Franz, we learned that the skill of psychiatric nursing is demonstrated in the nurse's ability to be sensitive to each patient's feelings and thinking. If

Operating room and Recovery room aids each student in attain- ing knowledge, skill, and wider- standing necessary to give total patient care. It offers the oppor- tunity of learning aseptic technique and its values, anatomy and physiol- ogy of the human body, and devel- oping skills in assisting in the sur- gical environment. She also ob- serves the anesthetized, uncon- scious patient and realizes the changes which occur in the func- tion of the human body during surgery.
