Norcom. This sign was put up outside of the Manor Fieldhouse to let the community know where to register to speak for or against the Manor-Norcom regrouping and re- naming. Our Standard Is Excellence Long Live Manor High Manor High School has been the focus of a major dilemma this year. The superintendent of Portsmouth Public School has recommended that our school take on the name, colors, and traditions of another existing school, Norcom, and cast all that we have into a sea of forgetfulness. The Manor student body is outraged and we have let our voices be heard by the superintendent and the school board through personal conferences, public hearings and editorial letters. We don’t plan to give up our school without a fight. We have a heritage and a tradition and we vow to uphold them. We have made great strides. in our short thirteen year history. We have produced scholars and athletes who have competed on every level and succeeded. We have won two team State championships, as well as several individual state championships. We have numerous district championships and regional championships, one of these in 1985. We have also received acclaim as coaches of the year and athletes of the year. Academically, our students have been recipients of major scholarships to some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in this country. These students have and are currently standing tall at these universities and some have already taken their places of prominence in society. We want our alumni to have a school to come back to and a school to be proud of in the future. Our school means a lot to us and we want to preserve of for posterity.
