The Class That’s Great, Is 78!! The Senior Class of 1978 has been the most active class © ever to attend Manor High School. This class has also been the most spirited, the most intelligent, and the most unified. The Class of ’78 was a proud class for many reasons. One of these was the fact that they produced more Honor Graduates than any previous class. Of the 346 graduating Seniors, 56 succeeded in becoming Honor Graduates. An- other reason for the “Pride of ’78” was the fact that they earned the reputation of being charitable and generous. They exceeded all of the other classes in contributing to such worthy causes as the United Way, Canned Food | Drive, Operation Santa Claus, and the Red Cross Blood Drive. Homecoming further instilled pride in the Seniors. they received second place for their float, The Speakeasy. One of the highlights of the year for many Seniors was the Senior Class Trip to Orlando, Florida. The trip was made possible through several fund raising activities which included: a dance, donut sales, the Talent Show and the Miss Manor Pageant. The Seniors, along with their chap- erones, boarded the bus in order to depart at 8:00 p.m. on March 23, 1978. Riding all night long, they arrived at their motel at noon the next day. Everyone immediately Senior Class Officers: Vicki Wilburn, Assistant Secretary; Michael Johnson, changed into bathing suits for a pool party and a trip to Vice-President; Mr. Leroy Williams; Carolyn Scully, President; Crystal Daw- Wet and Wild. That evening was spent at Mystery Fun son, Secretary; Kathleen Bell, Publicity Chairperson; Ricky Peacock, Treasurer. House. The following day was spent entirely at Disney World, riding rides, taking pictures and buying souvenires. Sunday was spent sight-seeing and visiting Sea World. Monday, after a brief stop-over at Lake Buena Vista, the Seniors began their return trip to Manor by way of South of the Border. It was a very enjoyable trip, leaving the Seniors many great memories to look back on. The Prom, sponsored by the Juniors on May , with its — Tropical Paradise theme was really beautiful. Everyone admired the decorations and enjoyed dancing to the music — of the band, Harvest. . May 22-26 was designated as Senior Week. The Seniors dressed up for Kiddie Day, 50’s Day, Dress-Up Day and Jean and Shades Day. The week was climaxed by Senior Teacher Day. The Senior Reception was held on May 30th. The Seniors felt truly honored when they saw the georgeous floral arrangements and the catered refresh- ments. June 2nd was the Senior Assembly. This day was also known as the unofficial Senior Skip Day. On this day a record 401 persons were absent and there were 277 early releases. ; Baccalaureate was held at 3 pm on June 4th in the Field. House. Susan Hinton, the Salutatorian, presided with the Rev. Charles H. Bowens as the guest speaker. The big day for all Seniors—Graduation Day—took place on June 8th at 8 pm. Margaret Anne Spence presided with David Har- rington, Ann Elizabeth Hester, and Pamela Gail Brown speaking. The Seniors proudly marched into the Field House to “Pomp and Circumstance” as their beaming relatives and friends looked on.
