THE 1977 Manor High School 1401 Elmhurst Lane Portsmouth, Virginia 23701 Volume “UNITY” Dr. Cherry Leads Drive For Unity UNITY Unity is a sense of love for your fellow man Caring and sharing all of your plans. Unity is being able to share your thoughts While knowing that your thoughts are being heard And knowing your words are not just words. Unity means to love, have love and need love. God put us here to love one another and come together, forever Being equal to all because the world is small, We shall all stand and grow tall. For the LOVE of GOD let's come together one and all; Unity is love, not only for people but for all the beautiful things God made Let's one day come together, and stay together No matter Race, Color or Creed, let's join Hands with your sisters and brothers and Respect each other like your fathers and mothers. School reopened on August 30, 1977 ending the joy of vacations, summer jobs, daytime tele- vision, swimming and for some summer school. All this gave way to school sports, homework, and chilly weather. Soon students began to get involved in school activities and the memories of summer were soon forgotten. The Manor Mus- tangs began to live the epic story of 1976-1977, Mustangs began to establish new traditions and activities. Some traditions were borrowed from other schools, but most of the traditions are from the minds of Mustangs. The talent shows were successful and after the April Fool's show a dance was given. The Senior Class' trip to Georgia proved to be not only educational but also enjoyable. They toured Atlanta and visited Stone Mountain. On the second day, they visited Six Flags. They found Six Flags enjoyable with its rides, games, and various enter- tainments. They also visited Martin Luther King's birthplace. Seniors kept their spirit even after returning home.
