SUPERINTENDENTS MESSAGE Congratulations, Seniorsg for having completed your high school education. Your school has made a substantial investment in your education. You are now to prove whether that investment was profitable. Remember, you are not educated from work but to greater work in a broader field of service. You are now faced with a different environment from that which surrounded you at home and at school. You will be accepted now solely upon your own merits. You must know that promotion comes only after you have given a full measure of devotion to the work to which you have been assigned. That success may ever be yours is the wish of your friend and co-worker.

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE Students and friends, school is a preparation for life, and many are the lessons. You have already learned many and you will continue and certainly the to learn many more, but the most difficult most important lesson you or anyone ever learn is to think. You will find that it is much easier to live without thinking than to live by thinking, but remember that progress is made by only those who have the will and ability to think for themselves. Cultivate an open mind. Do not be too set in your beliefs remember you can be wrong. However, it is even worse to be too hasty to change your conclusions when they are based on your individual thoughts and reasoning. Hearing it on the radio, reading it in the paper, or hearing someone say it, does not necessarily make it true--nor false. Gather all the informa- tion you can from every possible source, but let your opinions and ideas be your own always. By being independent in your thinking, you will often stand the risk of being ridiculed and laughed at, but remember that progress is made by men and women with the courage to differ. Jesus, Columbus, Washington and Jefferson dared to think and act for world. They were ferent and better they guided their time, but by what themselves, and in doing so changed the whole ridiculed and called radicals, but how dif- is the world you and I live in today because actions not by the accepted beliefs of their they thought to be true and correct. Therefore, let each of you steer a course in life toward that wisdom that comes only from thinking. 3
