Rhame, Eaddy, Floyd, Harvin . . . The men to whom the patrons of the community have entrusted the affairs of the school are the busy members of the school board. Management of schools has become big business, and those who dictate school policies. secure the personnel. and see that the school's budget is in balance give long hours to their duty. They attack conscientiously the task of seeing that each student of the school district receives the opportunity for developing his or her potentialities to the highest possible degree. The students of Manning High School appreciate the fact that their school board is composed of competent. conscientious. efficient men. The members are Mr. H. L. Harvin. chairman. Mr. P. F. Floyd. Even before school starts. the editors plan the theme and begin putting their ideas into action. Financing a yearbook is no small undertaking-a fact well-known by the NIAHISCAN Business Staff. Wiith a big bang the yearbook sale opens up each year. Haunting downtown business firms to sell plenty of ads and ad- vertising space for the MAHISCAN, industrious Business staffers really know what hard work is. Although the editing of the yearbook is a tremendous task. every second of work has its reward. When MAHIS- CAN workers breathlessly view the finished product and hear the students' joyous cries of MMAHISCANS are herelii they can truly be proud of the part they played in recording the story of the year. GOOD SCHOOL SPIRIT SPLIRRED The Monarchs, with a spirit and determination to spare, came through with six wins, three losses and one tie for the season. This is the best won-lost record a Manning team has recorded in the past ten years. A winning team is never an accident, and the 1957 District Champions were no exception. There were many grueling hours of practice behind each of the wins. The team should certainly be congratulated for the truly fine sportsmanship shown in each contest. Coach Mabry and his assistant coaches, McCord and Harris, should be congratulated, also, for a job well done. The 1957 Monarchs are a team of which to be proud. X yt P553 FXR.
