I have learned and experienced so many different things throughout the past twelve months which will help me in the years to come. There is no one word to thank all of the people of Manning of what they have done for me. All of the kindness and friendship which was extended to me during this time made the year seem that much better. My year is something that I will never forget for many years to come. Being a stranger in a foreign country could have caused many problems. But everyone just accepted me and was always willing to help a confused Aussie become part of the community. It meant a lot to me to see that people were so generous and socialable, and I was able to settle in as if it were home. During the school year I participated in both sports and activities which I' would of never done. I would like to thank everyone associated with the school for the guidance each has shown to me, and all the things which were given to me through the school. When I return to Australia I will take with me some fond memories and share them with all my family. Last but not least an extra special thank you to my friends, who without them my year couldn't have been so good. Nobody could ask for better ones. I couldn't have wished to be placed in a better community of be given a nicer family to stay with. Hopefully in the near future I will be back to visit but in the mean time my appreciation and best wishes is extended to everyone. ur Brittisher za The Myer Family, Edith, Dr. Phillip, Annette Kinsey, Ianet, Barb, and Ieanie. During these past twelve months, the AFS club has participated in many activities including the Manning AFS Weekend and the AFS Carnival. Both functions were a great success not only profit wise but also from the point of providing a better understanding of the varying cultures which ex- ist throughout the world. The main purpose of our association is to get students interested in the activities of AFS, and in so doing broaden their aspects of life. Being a member enables these students to come in contact with teenagers of other countries and by being associated with them, provides a bond between both countries con- cerned. Each year the club organizes a weekend, where exchange students from the surrounding area are invited to spend the weekend in the homes of several student members. This year we had students from Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Chile and Great Britain. This year also marks the selection of Mark Sextro to participate in a summer program to Venezuela. Karla Sailer, Edith Myer, Iulie Hagedorn, Iennifer Collison, and Su- zanne Bandow gave up five days of their summer to learn new ideas for the upcoming school year. Such things learned were chants, mounts, cheers, and a dance which was the Homecoming dance. Also rap sessions were held on how to improve a pep rally and how to raise money. Also this year we purchased new football sweaters, which are all white with red and black down the sleeves and in a V formation. The top is white above the V and black below it, as shown in the IV picture of the opposite page. ii. 4 Varsity QBottomJ: Sue Bandow, Edie Myer, and Karla Sailer.
