While there, they visited Knott’s Berry Farm and Universal Studios. On Friday, they participated in Grad Night at Disneyland. On June 4th, they headed for LaJolla and stayed at the Sea Lodge along the beach. They traveled to San Diego to tour the USS Ranger, then on to shopping at Sea Port Village. On June 6th, they visited Sea World. On June 7th, the week being over, all headed back to Illinois with a brief layover in Denver. PROPHECY Dear Paul, I was sorry that you could not make it to our class’s Fifteen year reunion. Knowing you, you’re probably still deciding whether or not to come. How is your company, Smiley Toothpaste coming along? Oh, that reminds me, do you still have that night job at Rigley Field? I bet being part of the left field lights is tough. But if there was anyone that was perfect for the job it was you. Almost all of our class was able to make it. I thought you might be interested in finding out what the rest of our classmates are doing. Chad Gripp retired from farming at the age of 29 and now owns a 350 acre resort in Montana. One out of the ordinary features of this resort is its 10 mile race track where there is no limitation on speed and no fear of getting caught. Being the nice guy he is, Chad offered all his classmates and their families one weeks free lodging at the Goer Ranch. Kris Frank, the local Super Senior, used her take charge ability to become State legislator and later on Senator. She hopes to run for President of the United States and become the first woman president. But unfortunately her faithful husband, Roger, is leading the protest against her candidacy. Oh, here’s an interesting one, Steve Mueller cracked the FBI's secret code to enter their master computer. Knowing that they would catch him, Steve turned himself in. Not wanting to waste his computer ingenuity, they offered him a job with the C.O.P.S. -uh . . . Computer Operating Personnel Section, that is. Amy Ericson graduated from Augie and won the Nobel Prize for her research on the deterioration of the human brain. She came to the conclusion that homework can actually cause permanent damage to the brain. Way to go Amy! Just a little bit late, don’t you think? This probably won’t be too much of a surprise for you. Kevin Gish came into some big bucks and bought Riemans of Kewanee. He is now in the process of working out a deal with Harley Davidson Co. trying to rename it. Harley Gishman motorcycles. Brenda White must have got tired slapping patties all day long at Hardee’s because she moved to Florida and opened up a beach front business where she has created the “Hula Suit.’’ It is a swimming suit made out of grass and has brought a new trend to the beaches everywhere. Marc Fordham, the all around athlete of our class, went out to become a professional basketball and football great, but his career was shortened because of . . . you guessed it, an injury. But this did not keep him out of the spotlight, at this time he is somewhat like the Captain Kangaroo of our generation. Today thousands of little kids all across the country know him as “Uncle Hoopfester’’. Angela Collins and Matt Dumney, our favorite hallway sweethearts, got married and settled down near Manlius. They started a new chain of fast food restaurants called McDumney’s. Featuring every dessert imaginable with strawberries and the famous “head” burger. The “Cadetster”, now known as Lt. Colonel Robert Sierens, graduated from West Point at the top of his class. He is now a top engineer for Hewlett Packard and Co., where he has a revolutionary voice activated calculator on the market. Anything to make chemistry and physics a little easier. Anyway, I guess he is really rolling in the bucks because he brought his fleet of Corvettes, one for each day of the week, with him to the reunion, because he wasn’t sure how long he was going to stay. Rachel Thompson and Berni McCoy shocked everyone by telling us that they had 38 kids between them. But soon they put everyone at ease by revealing that they had opened a day care center. And the 38 kids weren’t actually theirs at all. Pat Linder, along with his wife Heidi, and son Adam, got tired of Manlius life and headed out east to New York. I guess life hasn’t been treating him too bad lately because he arrived at the reunion in one of those king size limousines. You know the ones that have the bar and jaccuzi. Supposedly, he reawakened the Gumby era and started a new line of stores featuring every type of Gumby memorabilia that a person could think of. He said he someday plans to expand his business all across the country, and eventually establish a national holiday in the honor of his claim to fame, Gumby and Pokey. Amy Hall went on to college and came back to Manlius to take over Mrs. Marquis’ kindergarten class. She also followed in the footsteps of her favorite mentor, Mr. Lane and became head coach of Manlius’ first girls’ state championship team. WELL, ISN’T THAT SPECIAL? Chuck, or should I say Chas with a star, Oloffson, the dreamer of our class, was as you remember, always inspired by the high flying feats of Michael Jordon. Well, Chuck’s up there all right with the number 23 now, but in a different sort of way. He’s the elevator man between the 1st and 23rd floors of the Sears Tower. Well, Charlie Helgesen ended up marrying Scott. She then opened up a tanning salon and fitness center on Muscle Beach. Right next to it is her healthfood stand called “The Chuck Wagon.’’ She said that once she gets her business off to a good start, she plans to go to stewardess school. But Scott, on the other hand, does not like the idea of his wife flying the friendly skies. But I think the class mate who surprised me the most was Tom Rasmussen. Even though he was not there, I managed to get a hold of him. Tom is so dedicated to his work that he said he could not take off any time to come to the reunion. He said he is now head of the production staff of Playboy Magazine and must sit in on all photo sessions. He didn’t seem very upset about missing the reunion because, I guess work comes before pleasure. Of course me, Chris Hoffman, well. I’m sitting here writing you this letter lounging back in my beach chair atop my seventy foot yacht surrounded by ten gorgeous girls. You’re probably wondering how I came into all this money since you last saw me. You see, my uncle’s sister’s mother’s cousin left me all this money for some unknown reason. I never even heard of her and don’t even know what she looks like. I’ve got so much money I don’t know what to do with it all. Maybe I should send some of it to our retired teachers in Manlius. Naaah . . . The reunion was a big success even though you weren’t there. I kind of missed seeing Tom, but since he subscribed me for the next three years to Playboy for free, I suppose I can live with it. I have to go now. Candy just called me down for my back rub. Stay in touch. Best of Friends, Chris Hoffman 46 HONORS NIGHT National Honor Society members from left to right-Front row-Chris Hoffman, Beth Holevoet, Amy Rasmussen. Angel Jaggers and Steve Craig.
