Manlius Wins All-Sports Trophy PRESENTS ALL-SPORTS TROPHY--Sports Editor Bob Westlund presents the newspaper's Traveling All-Sports Trophy to the Manlius High School coaching staff of Joe Ricci, Ken Bourquin, and Grant Andresen. The Manlius Red Devils, undefeated football champions, fourth-place finishers in both basketball and baseball, and third place takers in track, claimed the coveted ALL-SPORTS trophy by accumulating 32 of a possible 40 points from the four conference sports races. The Red Devils squeezed past the Toulon Trojans, conference champs in both baseball and track, by a point and a half (32--30 1 2) for the ALL-SPORTS Title. Manlius, the smallest Blackhawk member with an enrollment of 120 students in four classes, posted its second straight undefeated football championship season under Coach Ken Bourquin last fall to get its ALLSPORTS surge started. Coach Grant Andresen coached the Red Devil cagers to a fourth place in the basketball race and he was also the coach for the fourth place finish team which finished 4--3 in the circuit. Homecoming Parade October 16,1970 The homecoming festivities got underway Thursday night, October 15, with a skit by the cheerleaders. The snake dance followed, and the climax of the night was the announcing of the king and queen. It was a sunny day for the parade. Many class members were hustling about attending to last minute details on their floats. Judges downtown observed the floats as they passed and placed the Seniors' float Laying for a Victory first. Second place was taken by the Juniors with Well Armed for a Victory, and the Freshmen placed third with We'll Lick 'em. 26
