Student Director--Dave Berry. Mushrooms Coming Up , a comedy. Thursday, May 11, was Awards Night for students at M.H.S. After a short meeting of the P.T.O. the National Honor Society held its initiation ceremonies. N.H.S. President, Jim Behrens conducted the initiation with the help of Dale Sierens, Chris Plumley, Verna Harp, and Jeannine Hochstatter, who explained the criteria for members. The initiates were Kathy Boyce, Hilary Carlson, Karla Carpenter, Allen DeDecker, Ruby Mohr, and Ruth King. The second part of the evening was the presentation of various awards to students. The awards given are as follows: Band and Chorus Awards--to those who received a first or second rating at state solo and ensemble contest. G.A.A. to those receiving first or second local or first or second state awards. G.A.A. Bowling Awards--lst--Sally Stier 2nd--Rita Oberle 3rd--Nancy Oberle G.A.A. Outstanding Senior Member--Nancy Oberle Honorable Mention--Chris Plumley Betty Crocker Award--Jeannine Hochstatter Crisco Award--Carol Wangelin F.H.A. Awards--Deanna Rombout and Connie Hansen (Juniors) Marcia Hoover (Sophomore) Betty Wangelin (Freshman) Home Economics Award--Marjorie Hansen Typing Awards for Speed and Accuracy N.H.S. President, Jim Behrens. Quill Scroll initiates with Mr. Burton. Ruth King receives the French award.
