GRADUATION June fourth--an end and a beginning for the Manlius seniors. The solemn ceremony of graduation began after they had marched in to Pomp and Circumstance played by Mrs. Howard Johnson. Rev. Joos gave the invocation, followed by a speech given by the salu-tatorian, Christine Hochstatter. After the band had played two mumbers Ruth Ann Mohr gave the valedictory speech. The speaker, Dr. Apple, was very inspiring. Next some awards were given out. Those receiving them were Ruth Mohr, Chris Hochstatter, Jerry Verdick, Steve Doty, Glenda Fordham, Joe Lower, and Ken Nearhing. 5

xv Now we'll get those A quiet day in the streets of 1 know that contact lens is seniors. Manlius. here somewhere?! FRESHMAN INITIATION On September 21, forty-two freshmen were brutally admitted to high school. We had a full day of fun and frolic (?) All morning whenever we saw a senior we recited a piece on how wonderful they were. In return we were decorated with lipstick, sour whip cream, shaving cream, molasses, catsup, and corn syrup. In the afternoon the whole school saw each freshman do a stunt, such as giving an egg shampoo or eating flour. That night the seniors gave a dance which we all had to attend, either by choice or by force. All in all we had a good time, but just wait till that class of 1971 comes along. Miss America, 1930
