The city, large and prosperous, spread before me as the plane circled in for a landing. The class of '59 was planning the twenty-fifth anniversary of their graduation from dear old Manlius High School and I was retuming home after a trip just in time for the celebration. As the plane taxied to a stop, I took a good look at the budding metropolis of approximately 100,000 people. The changes that had taken place since our graduation were really astounding. While I was waiting for a space mobile to take me from the airport, I happened to glance into the main office of Lyon's-Line Air Service that was owned by Duane Martin. Duane had developed the fastest jet in service which he has christened Sandy The First. He is married and the proud father of twin boys. In the office was my old friend Carol Schmidt better known as Schmitty. After greeting me she told me she was head of a school for aspiring young Lyon's-Line hostesses and also she had married a Texas oil tycoon. While we were talking, who should stroll up to us but Ronnie Hard. Ronnie told me he was the owner of the largest and most scientifically op- erated farm in the Midwest where all he had to do was press a button, throw a switch, or pull a lever. He had the cows milked, the garden weeded, and his pasture green spacemobile fueled, aimed and ready for take off. He perfected this while driving his Pontiac to school in the mornings. Ronnie and I said good-bye to Schmitty and hopped into a waiting space taxi. Who should be sitting at the controls but Duane Worthless Wirth who hadn't seemed to live up to his nickname. In fact it was quite the oppo- site. He told us that he owned a large fleet of space taxies and was only driving one today so he could practice his driving techniques. Duane acquired his taxi skills early while driving high school students downtown and back to the high school at noon. After leaving Duane and Ronnie, I went to the hotel where the party was to be held and much to my surprise in the lobby was Sharon Kirkpatrick and Karen Lebahn. Sharon is currently appearing on nation-wide television, Station TV-PU, where she airs her latest experimental cookery to the nation. When she isn't on television she takes care of her home, three children, and her star basketball playing husband. Muffet is a busy housewife and mother who lives in a ten bedroom mansion in the southwest part of the city. Her six children keep her very busy but she also finds time to assist part time in the Home Economics Division of Manlius High School. As we girls were talking, Larry Hansen came into the lobby of the hotel. Larry had just returned from one of his famous lecture tours only to find his wife, Karen, away from home. Larry lectures on the Art of Self-Defense and originated and perfected his now famous Hansen's Terrible Toe-Hold. We made plans to meet at the party that was to be held that evening and then parted. Everything was ready for the party and one by one my former classmates were arriving. The first to arrive was Gary Roush who was to be the master of ceremonies at the party. Gary is a well-known orchestra leader who had cut short an engagement at the Palace to be with us. He received his experience while playing in Mr. Mil- burn's band and giving his prepared U1 three minute speeches in speech class at Manlius High School. With Gary was Terry Anspach who had recently beaten Van Cliburn in world competition in Russia. Terry received his ex- perience accompanying the chorus in Mrs. Johnson's classes. While I was conversing, Ron Snorky Anderson came in who is star of the world famous pro football and basketball team, the Red Devils, coached by none other than Roger Jones who took over the position upon Mr. Jenkins' retirement. Roger is married to his high school sweetheart, Rita Wiseman. She is the proud mother of four children, two boys and two girls. Rita knew how to manage her family because she studied Child Care in her junior year under the instruction of Mrs. Block. Jerene Christensen, Waneta Hall, and Beverly Kvamme appeared in the doorway. Jerene is Dean of the ex- clusive girls' school Manlius Manor which is situated in the southwest part of Manlius. Nita is a nationally known artist who is married and raising a family. Bev is a well-known lawyer who lives in a bachlorette penthouse apart- ment. It was rumored that she is to marry her client. The next to arrive was Max Chesney and Harold Miller. Harold is a famous men's hair designer who is cur- rently designing the New Elvis's hair. The new Elvis is Mike. As a sideline, Mike customizes red and white trucks. Bob Frank and Jon Nelson strolled into the room. Bob, better known to his classmates as Roberta is the owner of a ten-thousand acre ranch in Califomia and Jon is the designer of Nellie Speedboats and the owner of Nelson Estates in northem Illinois. There is a rumor that they are trying to purchase the territory between them, and then merge. They were followed by Brian Raabe who is the designer and distributor of Raabe's Space Runabout, the top selling space mobile in the United States. Brian is famous for his black and white paint jobs. Joe Michlig and Don Bill Neidetcher were the next to arrive. Joe is a famous stunt and speed driver who is known for his Roll-Over. Joe had set a new speed record which had been renamed in his honor-- Mich Michlig. Night-Train is the owner of Big Bill's Bar and Ball Room in downtown Manlius. Bill had been able to discover the secret of Rip's chicken and had developed a new pizza recipe that called for a thousand and one ingredients. Connie Thomas and Judy Rumbold came in last. Connie lives in South America a great deal of the time but for a hobby she is Head Cracker at a chewing gum factory. Connie tests the gum for its cracking quality. Judy is the private secretary of the famous world traveler, Mr. Burton, who along with Mr. Jenkins, our other class spon- sor, travels the globe conducting Button's Bonanza Tours. They got their experience helping the class of '59 de- cide on the class trip destination. Judy received her secretarial experience in Mr. Burton's classes. As I was driving home after the party I thought of what a success the party had been and how we had decided to meet every five years. Oh, I forgot to tell you who I am! I am Ila Dale Jorgensen and my husband and I are trying to weld our family of two boys and two girls into a well run, happy household. We live in the southwest part of the city and many of my old classmates are my neighbors. For a hobby I also do interior decorating with Crane House. Good night!
