The A gricultural Council started its new year in July, 1956, with the election of Leonard Swan as chair- mang Gene Hartz, Vice Chairmang and Daniel Raabe, Secretary- Treasurer. What does the Agricultural Ad- visory Council do? As the name suggests, it is a group of citizens serving in an advisory capacity to the vocational agriculture teacher, and the Board of Education. The duty of the council is to plan ac- tivities in vocational agriculture for the improvement of agricul- ture in the district. They have: 1. Planned and conducted farmer meetings on top- ics of interest of farmers in this district. 2. Sponsored an electric wiring course for a group of farm people. 3. Surveyed farm shop fa- cilities and recommended purchases of new equipment. ABSENT WHEN THE PICTURE WAS TAKEN: Gene Harlzg Dennis Schaefer, Sr.3 Clifford Presnell. 4. Developed policies for the administration and direction of the vocational agriculture department. 5. Made recommendations to and assisted the Manlius FFA Chapter in carrying out its program of work. The Advisory Council consists of all citizens from the district. Nine members serve a three-year term with three new members being selected each year. The FFA representative and the Veterans Training Program representative are elected annually by the members of each group.
