Faculty ' Mr. Keist is the principal of the high school and also superintendent of the unit. He has both master and bachelors degrees and has served with us for six years. He teaches practical math and algebra and does a very good of anything he tackles. Mr. Davidson is assistant principal of our high school and has received both his master and bachelor's degrees from the University of Illinois. He teaches advanced busi- ness, typing, and bookkeeping. He has been with us now for four years. We all enjoy his good humor. Mr. Rice is one of the members of the faculty which we lost this year. He had been with us nine and a half years until he took a position at Macomb. Mr. Rice did very much to improve our agriculture department. We all hope Mr. Rice enjoyed his work here, as much as we enjoyed having him here. Mrs. Jean Yates has been wth us for three years, in which she has taught English and girls' physical education. Mrs. Yates directed the famous senior play and assisted with the equally good junior play. She is always willing to help anyone in need. Miss Mary jean Code has been with us four years. She has taught home economics to the high school and junior high homemakers and she is also F.H.A. advisor. She directed the junior play and ably assisted the senior play. Mr. Gleich, a newcomer, is a graduate of Bradley University. . Last year Mr. Gleich taught at Stockton, Illinois. He has charge of our athletic departmentg teaches shop, and physical education ro both high school and junior high, and also spelling to the eighth grade. Mr. Kinne is also a newcomer to our staff. He was a graduate of Normal Univer- sity last year. He teaches the eighth graders, high school geography, and also Coaches the junior high athletics. He is always willing to help you find material for themes. Mrs. Johnson has been with us two years and teaches the high school girls' chorus. Her ensemble rated first in the district, thus enabling them to go to the state. Miss Hensel is also a new member of our staff. She has both her bachelor and master's degrees. She received her bachelors from the University of Illinois and the master's from Northwestern. She teaches high school band and junior high band and chorus. Mr. Russell came to Manlius the first part of the second semester. Last year Mr. Russell taught at Minooka, Illinois. He took over the ag department when Mr. Rice left. Mr. Vasen is a new member of our faculty. He was a graduate of Quincy College. He teaches high school social sciences and junior high science. Mrs. Small has been at Manlius for two years. She teaches Latin, U. S. history, and world history. Mrs. Small is well-known for her good humor. Miss LaVetta Jensen was the high school secretary for the first semester of school. She left us for a steady job of housework. Mrs. Lila Oloffson is our present secretary who came to fill in the vacancy left by LaVetta Jensen. She is a graduate of Manlius High School in the class of 1947. We are very happy to have alumni for our school secretary. Mr. johnson is our janitor, who we always see with a broom of some kind in his hands. He has been with us for a number of years. Mr. LuVern Smith is our assistant janitor, who helps to keep the school looking nice. He is a graduate of Manlius in the class of 1944,

The Board of Education The Board of Education consists of seven members, who represent the different districts of the surrounding communities. President of the board is Glenn Hewitt, who is active in commu- nity affairs. He farms north-west of Manlius and represents the Manlius district. Gilbert Thompson is secretary of the present board and resides at a farm near New Bedford. Asa Drayton has been an active member of the board for several years. Mr. Drayton resides in New Bedford and is employed at the Manlius Lumber Company. Art Wilson has been with the board of education for nve years and farms west of Thomas. Ernest Lebahn, who has been with the board two years, resides on his farm east of Manlius. Vernon Hartz is a new-comer to the board, Corning from the New Bedford district. He farms west of New Bedford. Another new-comer is Robert Lind, coming from Hickory Grove. Mr. Lind also farms near Manlius. These men have contributed greatly to keep the school going, and we appreciate their work very much.
