Serves To all former faculty members of Mankato High who are now serving in the armed forces, we, the 1943 Otaknam Staff, dedicate this book. In this way we wish to show our appreciation to those men and women who are making it possible for schools such as ours to con- tinue in a free country. This year Mankato High students for the first time in their lives entered school in the midst of a war which in many ways has already altered their lives. Last fall hen they first passed through the halls of MHS, it was with a difierent purpose than when school ended peared en additional courses were put on the curric- d emphasis placed on those subjects which d repare the students for future service to the na- Q 1 n. Evidences of this new purpose ap- f?M are adapting themselves to the war world in which they are now living, as well as to show how they are preparing themselves for a better world after the war - is the purpose of this book of the 1942-43 school year.
