Where does this picture go!...Thus goes the theme song of the annual oHice. Organization and planning for the annual began very early in the year. Then came weeks of picture-taking. The writing of copy Filled in the rest of the year. In March the Great Ali Baba Babal Babe flames Brownj, predicted the fu- ture of the 1938 Otaknam in an assembly program. This opened the sales cam- paign. The annuals were delivered to the students in May. R.-mcrsn Crornns AND Dnzrs F . . ' Aces celebrated Hobo Day, one of the innovations of this year's Student Council guided by Iim Brown and Curtis Iohnson, faculty advisor. The group consists of representatives elected from each home room. Honor Roll students received merit pins for their high scholastic record. A bronze pin is given the First time a student is on the honor roll. Two points were awarded for each A and one for each B, making seven points necessary to he on the Honor list which is equivalent to three A's and one B, VVhen twenty-one more points are gained, a silver pin is given in exchange for the bronze. An additional twenty-one points demands a gold pin. If a student is not on the honor roll who has previously gained at pin, his pin is turned in until he is again an honor student. This plan of award was drawn up by the council. With the cooperation of the P. T. A., a masquerade ball was held to raise funds for carrying on this progressive work. Led by Captain Bill Steiner, they won 29 to 13. The following week they were defeated by the same team. The team's ability was undetermined as they took to the hard wood of the armory and defeated Rochester 26-19 for a Hrst Big Eight win. December 19, Lloyd Peterson provided the neces- sary one point margin to defeat Northfield 23 to 22. YVith two victories in two conference games the Scarlets were off to a good beginning. During Christmas vacation they pulled out two more wins, one over the Alumni and one over Waseca, 20 to 17. Albert Lea was the next opponent on December 30 and again the Scarlets played consistently good ball to bowl them over 29 to 25. A long trip to Mason City, Iowa, and the Scar- lets' first defeat in Five starts was to mark the begin- ning of a long losing slump. The Mohawks won in a rough game 36 to 26. I . , 0 Top row: G.
