Although they did not achieve that goal, they did a super job. This year they set a new school record with 24 wins and 5 losses. They also reigned as Pike Trail League Champs and Regional Champs. Both were firsts in Mankato volleyball history. The second picture down on the left shows the five seniors with the plaques and trophies they have worked for and received the past four years. 8 Best Season Ever Front Row, L to R: David Rohla — Asst. The preceeding week was filled with exciting, spirited events. Our annual Gong Show was held on Monday, with a group of wacky Freshmen participating. Tuesday was hat day, and Wednesday everyone was to wear a toga. Crazy hair and sock day was held on Thursday, with prizes being given to the best or “worst” looking hairdo. Un- fortunately, the weather did not permit a bonfire and snake dance, but the fun- filled Senior volleyball games were still held in the gym on Thursday evening. Finishing up the week was Purple Pride day, and due to the dreary weather the downtown pep rally was instead held in- side, but a large crowd attended, and made it a big success. The evening was soon here, but once again the rain continued to fall, making it impossible to hold the coronation outside. Instead the bleachers were pulled out in the gym, and the “muddy” king can- didates escorted the queen candidates down the floor. The suspense of the week was ended with Paul Fleming being crowned King, and Leah Ross Queen. 12 13 = 0 99 16 Cheerleaders “Build” Spirit! Top: Tina Powell — Head, Renee Peroutek. The Future Homemakers of America, Mankato Chapter, had a ter- rific year during 1984-85. To start it off, the annual Powder Puff game was held on Monday, Sept. 17, with the “Red” team winning over the “White”. During the month of October the club sold many varieties of cookbooks, and gave an award to Susan Hoard for being the top saleswoman. November 1st was Fall Conference in Salina, and the spaghetti feed was held on December 18 during the Glasco Mankato basketball game, with a large crowd attending. From Feb. 11 15 F.H.A. Week was full of excitement. Each girl drew a secret pal and revealed themselves the Friday after Valentine’s Day. Tuesday, April 23, the club loaded the bus and went to Lincoln, Nebraska for their field trip. Stops were made at the Capitol and Weaver’s Potato Chip Co. Finishing up the year was the Senior farewell, and installation of the new of- ficers. Gifts were presented to Seniors and departing officers for their outstanding work throughout the year. 22 Girls Playing Football? The Red Team: L. to R.
