freshman; Starrlene Esslinger, sophomore, Marcia Colson, sophomore; Anne Schlotterback, sophomore, Sherri Gard- ner, sophomore, and Kimma Winslow, sophomore. The Mankato Chapter FFA Sweetheart Contest was held on August 31, 1979 at MHS. Fourteen girls took the written test to determine the six finalists. Once the six were selected they completed in several contests. The finalists were: Julie Malcom, These finalists competed in watermel- on eating, greased pig catching, steel post driving, and board sawing which was topped off with driving a three wheeled-cycle through an obstacle course. The competition concluded with the crowning of the new Sweet- heart for 1980-81, Sherri Gardner. First runner-up was Starrlene Esslinger and second runner-up was Kimma Wins- low. 7
