Cong Hours and Hard Work Pays The best in 50 years? Yes, you heard right! The 1977 football season ended with a 7-2 record, the best record since 1927. Unfortunately, along with all the triumphs, there were also the tragedies. During the summer, Mike McCammon who would have been a senior starter, was killed in a car accident. “It was one of the saddest things that could happen to a football team,” said Coach Hague, “but it brought the boys even closer together than they were before.” The boys still felt they could have a good season and worked hard. Then the third game of the season, Bryan Clark, a senior starter, broke his leg. The next game we play- ed Sylvan Grove, and lost 7-6. But then the guys had five straight wins to end the season 7-2.
