This year it was presented to Bryan Clark and Sandy Drury. “A Tribute to Mike” We raise them 'til they’re seventeen. Skinned up knees and patched blue jeans, Mohawk hair cuts, crews and hutches. Football, basketball sometimes crutches. Ball gloves, bats, strewn down the hall, Dirty gym socks, jeans and all. Horses to ride with ribbons to win. When you fall, you get up again. Sack lunches at the old standpipe. Picking watermelons, when they’re ripe. Sleeping in the backyard tent. Nickels, dimes and pennies spent. Sometimes quiet times for studies. Lots of time for special buddies. Then one day God says, “Come with me, Mike, I’ve watched over you, since you were a tyke. I’ve watched as you have grown and learned. And a very special place, you have earned. Come with Me, I have work for you, Something, surely, no one else can do. It’s very important, so you see I have to have you, here with Me.” 8 Katy and Jay Jacobs Arlene S. Avery foul E. Bohnert Bryan R. Clark Kirk W. Berneking Wanda M. Boyles Pamela J. Diamond James W. The 1977 football season ended with a 7-2 record, the best record since 1927. Unfortunately, along with all the triumphs, there were also the tragedies. During the summer, Mike McCammon who would have been a senior starter, was killed in a car accident. “It was one of the saddest things that could happen to a football team,” said Coach Hague, “but it brought the boys even closer together than they were before.” The boys still felt they could have a good season and worked hard. Then the third game of the season, Bryan Clark, a senior starter, broke his leg. The next game we play- ed Sylvan Grove, and lost 7-6. But then the guys had five straight wins to end the season 7-2. The junior high music departments present three formal concerts each year—a fall concert, the Christmas concert, and a spring concert. The Christmas concert includes not only the junior high students, but also the entire grade school. It is usually at this concert that the beginning fifth grade band students present their first performance. The first Saturday in May our junior high hosts an invitational music contest. Our band and large vocal groups compete in this contest. We also enter solos and ensembles. This year the junior high band entertained during half-time at a high school football game and presented a concert at the Jewel! County Historical Museum when the Smithsonian Band Exhibit was on display. Vocal groups have entertained the Formo- so Women’s Club, sang at the hospital, sang at the Historical Society Craft Show, and went Christmas Caroling. Both band and vocal students take part in our eighth grade graduation. 84 Junior High Pep Club: Back Row-Wanda Gering, Linda Hanson, Carla Kohn, Julie Malcom, JoAnn Howard, Ann Robinson, Karen Johnson, Lisa Osborne, Julie Martin, Marcia Colson, Lisa Burkhart, Stacey Duffy. 2nd Row-Becky Free, Crystal Colson, Lorie Parsons, Rose Eilert, Lori Becker, Cynthia Logan, Deborah Thomas, Georgia Watson, Tracey Anderson, Carla Thronson, Mrs. Rose, Mrs. Ramey. 1st Row-Andrea Pierce, DeAnn Warne, Nancy Powell, Sherri Gardner, Michelle Mueller, Starlene Ess- linger, Vicki Gerths, Julie Rieter, Diana Dunn, Kimma Winslow. 85 Junior High Cheerleaders: Karen Grelinger, Saundra Boyles, Ann Schlotterback, and Tina Peterson. {junior High Kicks, Mourns, and Runs.
