This year the council was a member of the National Association of Student Councils. 1:30, was made up of class and organization representatives. The council was in charge of all school elections and assemblies. Some of the more important assemblies were in conjunction with summer camps and workshops, Armistice Day, Christmas, sportsmanship, and American Heritage Month. In the fall Mr. Roberts took four members to a Leadership Conference in Hays. The theme of the Council's all-school party was Where the Action Is. All of those who attended were computer-matched to one or more persons from the student body. BOARD OF EDUCATION CLYDE REED President DON WALKER CLARENCE LOOMIS NELSON KEELER JIM WILSON QUENTIN LEECE An adequate Board of Education is necessary in order for a school to properly fulfill its educational function We feel our board meets the requirements. Our Board of Education helps to promote community understanding by acting as a liaison between school and community. With responsibility to meet and hard work to do, our Board of Education is behind the policies that help to form the image of Mankato High School. As of the coming school year, our school will become Unified District 278. Three additional board members have been elected to represent the new area. These board members will officially take office on July 1, 1966. We are very gratetul to these men for giving their time and effort to our school system. They give to us the opportunity for a better education.
