THE 1964 MANKATOAN Standing proudly on guard above the doors of Mankato High School, the Cougar has watched the events of another school year; he has seen the athletes, the scholars, their anticipation, their anxiety, their triumphs , their disap- pointments, their successes, and their failures. From that first hectic moment of enrollment to the triumphant cap and gown clad entry at commencement, the Cougar has been aware of each student who entered these halls of learning. ADMINISTRATION Since 1958 Mr. Lyle Price, superintendent of Mankato High School, has worked to enlarge our curriculum and raise our scholastic standards. He has shown great interest in the multitude of high school activities; at games he has lustily cheered the Cougars; in the classroom he has offered patient assist- ance; and to the staff he has given co-opera- tion. 1963-64 has seen Mr. Paul Roberts, science teacher, take on the duties of principal. The impressive appearance of the halls and classrooms of MHS can be partially accredited to Mr. Roberts, and he tries to maintain this neatness in spite of an occasional lackadai- sical student’s attitude. Heading the educational activities are the three members of the board of education. They have organized a transportation system for our enlarging enrollment. Looking toward future reorganization, these men have in- creased the faculty, expanded the athletic program, introduced foreign languages, and expanded and remodeled the office, to provide for the students of MHS the best of educa- tional opportunities.
