The score was: Mankato Ij8, Glasco 53. Downs won the tournament. Mankato journeyed to Kensing- ton for the district tournament and beat Burr Oak the first night 6I4—52. The second night Osborne defeated the Cougars in an over- time 67 - - 69. The last night playing for third place Almena defeated Mankato UU- -h2. Ken- sington took the toumamnnt with Osborne taking second. The Cougar track team placed second in the Jewell Invitational. They placed fourth in the Superior meet. In the Regional track meet, held at Beloit, Man- kato qualified 7 boys for the state track meet held at Wichita. They were; Larry David—tie for first in the pole vault, Philip Westin.—second place in 120 yard high hurdles, Harry Elder—third place in the mile, Richard Colson, Wayne Johnson, Arden Blaylock, and Von Scarrow in the medley relay team. The medlay relay team placed fifth in the state track meet. The others failed to place. Six of the seven boys are back to run for the Cougars during tne I960 season. Relays Also, the Cougars plan to take in the Superior Invitational, the SVL meet, several dual meets, the region- al meet at Manhattan, and the state track meet also at Manhattan.
