At each meeting a different member ex- plains his hobby and tries to interest the other boys in it. Mr. Bennett is the sponsor and everyone seems to like the hobby club better than the Kays. The boys have many unusual hobbies including tie collecting, stamp collecting, coin collect- ing, matchbook collecting, autograph collecting, etc. The officere of this organ- ization are Bob Bqyd, president; Dick Boyd, Vice-president; and Ray Outler, secretary- treasurer, J Congradulations----L. and B. Back in ninteen forty-nine Every morning promptly at nine Forty-four freshmen answered the roll And started at once to achieve their goal. Happy were the days at M.H.S. Though we gave the teachers some times of si Through tough assignments and hours of clasi We struggled on with intent to pass. Thoughts of graduation may be sad Even though we'll be very glad To start on our own in life next year Without regrets and without a fear. The forty-four dwindled at a rapid rate And only twenty-seven will graduate; As we part now and go on our separate ways, We will cherish the memory of high school di Compliments of Bill Oiffin Bud's 66 Service plumbing Heating Sheet Uetal 39 Phone 66 Box Phone 30 Bankato, Kansas CL Of 53 Prophecy Deep In the Jungles of darkest Africa, Darlene Oeen is searching through the thick J underbrush for her old classmate and side-kick, Lula Hancock. Lula is now America's Stock Car Racing Champion, who has gone to Africa searching for a new variety of rubber plant which grows in the form of automobile tires. Darlene sees a light in the darkness ! and Eileen MeKim steps out from behind a bamboo tree. Eileen has been a missionary to j the cannibals there for the past six years. Kith her, she happens to have an old battered j copy of the '53 Mankatoan and she has been teaching the savages to read from it. As she glances through the pages, she asks Darlene about what her old classmates are doing. The most famous member of our class is now Duane Jackson, Metropolian Opera star i who is on a personal appearance tour in Europe. There he has been hailed as the Second ! Caruso . Pat G reen and Pauline Thompson are sporting beautiful sun tans and have sea weed in j their hair. They are chasing Navy fleet No. 7 around the world on their three foot raft. Bob Parsons is head floor walker in Gamble's Store in Mankato. He got this position on the basis of his experience at home. P.S. Mr. and Mrs. Parsons are now the proud j parents of seven children. Have you seen Sheila Christy on your T.V. set lately? If you have you probably rec- ognized this star of colored television as the former Jackie Matousek. She is sponsored by Red , a hair dressing guaranteed to make red hair flaming red. Wes Hedden, camera hound, now has his own studio in Hollywood, specializing in cover girls. This motto hangs on his studio door, The World's Most Beautiful Women Have Posed Here . Honey Tones Siemon is now singing with Ralph Flannagan's Band. Her latest Decca recording I Just Can't Make Op My Mind is currently tops on the Hit Parade. Gary Everson and Grover Rohla are now co-owners of Space Ships, Inc., a giant firm manufacturing rocket ships of all varities. They flew their original design The Flying Saucer a few weeks ago and earned the title The First Men to Reach the Moon . They report that life on the moon is very exciting and they are building a boxcar rocket so they can move there. Cruising on the Oilf of Mexico in their private yacht are Lois Groves and her husband, Owen Yokum. Their spacious 40,000 acre ranch in Texas is covered with oil wells. The editor of the New York Times, our former classmate. Bob Boyd, has just been sued for libel because of his editorial slandering Democratic Senator Filibustering Fog horn. One of our extreme professionalists, Ruth O'Hara, is now in New York modeling her latest style in cat furs. She has, in the center of a 90 acre cat farm, a cat nip cannery. Ruth's high school hair do, a pony tail, has been changed to a cat tail, which is now the latest fad. Renowned evangelist, Ray Outler, is now in Northern Alaska converting the Eskimos by the thousands daily. Ray is well known because of his great persuasive powers. He has even known to sell swimming suits and sun tan iol to the Esldmos. Willis Mog, famous Jet plane pilot, has just suffered a broken arm when his plane, Lightening Angel , crashed while flying at a speed of 2000 m.p.h. Willis has been taken to Hero's Hospital where he is enjoying his stay and especially the excellent food, which is prepared under the direction of Nancy Teeple, head dietian at the hospital. John Russell is not a bachelor, Just a gentleman in waiting, on his farm in North Carolina raising cane. Pat Hayes and her husband, are now replacing the Roy Rodgers and Dale Evans team. Bieir current hit is B:amps in the Saddle . Pat's hobby is raising race horses and her famous horse Stinkweed has just won the Kentucky Derby. It has Just been announced that Melvin Zade has replaced J. Edgar Hoover, head of the F. B. I. Melvin got his experience while serving as deputy sherriff in Mankato under his father. If you want good apple cider, just visit Jeanie Oaham on her apple farm in Troy. She has Just developed a new apple The Happy Jack which grows to a 12 inch deameter. Carroll Thronson was such a candid Popeye fan that he Joined the navy after graduation. His is now cruisihg over the waves hoping to get shipwrecked on some South Sea island with a beautiful girl. Gwen Blair, has purchased a grocery market in Superior, Nebr. The odd thing about Oen's store is the fact that she has hired all male help. In her spare time Gwen cheerlead8 for the Oldtimers Community Team . 40 The biggest ears in North Central Kansas were grown by Jerry Vader. Last year he was the Kansas Com Growing Champion, and set a new state record. Leonard Johnson is now owner and manager of Johnson's Super Markets in Denver, Colo. Leonard now has a larger chain of Markets than Boogarts. His specialities are such rare delicacies as Leo's Lion Livers, Coyote Chops, and Skunk Steaks. The quietness of the jungle where Darlene and Eileen are sitting is broken by a scream of delight and they see Lula floating on log paddling with her hands and feet. She has found her tire tree. Now that they have both accomplished their mission, Darlene and Lula wave good-by to Eileen and the cannibals and return to the good old U. S. A. 1. Four seniors 2. Iron changes a tire 3.
