The Cougars of 51 - 52 were definitely a team of inexperience. Led by seniors Butch Hayes, Sam Wagner and Gerry Howard; juniors Bob Boyd and Willis Mog; and sophomores Garry Boston, Jerry Seirer, Bill Carter, Jim Platt and Dwayne Nichols, the Cougars gave evidence that they will be hard to beat for the next two years. The rebounding of Butch Hayes was far above anything seen this year. The im- provement of Sam Wagner was another highlight; Gerry Howard, whose defensive work shown at the first of the year, was held back by injuries. Jerry Seirer, sophomore, who at the time of this writing is averaging 17 points per game, looks good for the future along with the ball handling of Garry Boston and Bob Boyd. Jim Platt was the back bone of the second team with an average of about 15 points per game, while Dick Boyd, Willis Mog, Bill Carter and Dwayne Nich- ols showed enough improvement to move up from the second team toward the end of the season.
