The new Jett- erson Elementary School was completed in l955, and plans are under consideration for an addition to the present high school building. Some of the improve- ments being planned are: a new gym, a band room, a study hall, additional classrooms, guidance facili- ties, added space for shops, increased homemaking and cafeteria space and other badly needed facili- ties. 12

During the past three years the enrollment at M.H.S. has increased at the rate of about 50 students per year-the present enrollment being 649. This increased enrollment has brought with it added problems. As administrator of the high school, Mr. Radtke, working in conjunction with the faculty and student body, is responsible for establishing disciplinary policies and practices, supervising cur- riculum development and improving general aca- demic policies. With an approximate budget of S450,000, and an estimated net worth of over Sl,l50,000, our schools have become one of the city's largest financial enterprises. Purchasing, hiring personnel, maintaining vital statistics, annual reports and health records are but some ofthe many duties of the superintendent.
